Course Structure:

The course will take 12-15 months, depending on your time and commitment. Our Yoga Teacher Training Course is structured into two semesters of coursework and 40 hours of practicum teaching.

Admissions Requirements and Procedures:

At SVYASA-USA, Houston Center, we welcome students and teachers from all yoga lineages into our extended family. To be eligible for our Teacher Training Course, candidates must fulfill the following prerequisites:

  • Completing a minimum of 200 hours covering yoga practice and philosophy fundamentals.
  • One year of personal practice and teaching experience.

The application process includes:

  • Submission of a complete application.
  • CV/Resume.
  • Personal statement/statement of purpose.
  • An interview.
  • Copy of your 200-hour certification.
  • Copy of your ID/driver’s license.

Course Format/Curriculum:

 

Duration of the Course: The course will take 12-15 months, depending on your time and commitment. Our Yoga Teacher Training Course is structured into two semesters of coursework and 40 hours of practical training. Students are encouraged to attend residential retreats, each lasting three days, during each semester.

Semester 1: The Course’s first semester is dedicated to establishing a robust foundation for elevated yoga teaching. It covers essential aspects such as deepening philosophical understanding with a study of Panchakosa, Yoga Vasistha, and Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Additionally, students delve into progressive Anatomy and Physiology, comprehensively understanding the human body’s systems and their significance in elevated yoga teaching. Practical skills in progressive yoga techniques, including asanas, pranayama, relaxation methods, and meditation, are emphasized. Moreover, the semester explores the history of yoga and its evolution, offering a comprehensive understanding of yoga’s roots and philosophy.

Semester 2: In the second semester, the Course builds upon foundational knowledge, revisiting the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and introducing advanced concepts in yoga philosophy. Students deepen their understanding of Anatomy and Physiology relevant to elevated yoga teaching while refining teaching methodology. The curriculum includes progressive yoga practices and their applications, along with studying Sanskrit, chanting, and Hatha Yoga Pradeepika text. Additionally, students explore the intricacies of the yoga lifestyle, such as the precept of non-violence (ahimsa), and the concepts of dharma and karma. Ethics for yoga teachers are discussed, encompassing aspects involving teacher–student relationships and community, emphasizing the value of teaching yoga as a service through seva.

Tuition: Tuition is paid by the semester. An early Bird discount is available.

  • Session 1: $3250 ($2999 early bird)
  • Session 2: $3250 ($2999 early bird)

Retreats: We provide an in-person retreat each semester to facilitate enhanced hands-on learning. While tuition is covered, students are responsible for boarding and lodging expenses during the retreat.

Requirements for course completion:

  • Successful completion of practicum and training as mentioned above.
  • Must pay all the dues before the examination.
  • Satisfactory attendance throughout the two semesters.
  • Successful completion of exams.
