SVYASA Houston is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health, happiness, and peace in society through education, research, and service in yoga.

Our mission is to share authentic yogic knowledge in a structured and practical way, helping individuals and communities improve physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

SVYASA Houston is affiliated with S-VYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana), Bengaluru, India, a globally recognized Yoga University and pioneer in yoga research for over 50 years.

Our Objectives

To provide systematic instruction and training in yoga and spiritual knowledge inspired by Swami Vivekananda. Our programs support total personality development by integrating body, mind, and inner awareness.

To support scientific research in yoga and its applications in addressing modern health challenges. We promote evidence-based yoga therapy and contribute to the growing validation of yoga in healthcare.

To conduct outreach programs, workshops, therapeutic services, and community initiatives that promote peace, harmony, resilience, and positive health.

History & Background

SVYASA USA was established in 1999 with the guidance of senior faculty from S-VYASA Bengaluru, including Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Dr. R. Nagarathna, and Mr. N. V. Raghuram.

Through lectures, classes, and yoga therapy programs conducted in Houston, there was growing interest in structured and authentic yoga education. In collaboration with S-VYASA Bengaluru, the Houston chapter was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2004.

About S-VYASA – Deemed-to-be University, Bengaluru, India

S-VYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana) is a Deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 (Government of India).

The University is internationally known for its contributions in:

  • Yoga Therapy
  • Integrated Health Applications

S-VYASA has published over 400 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and is recognized as a Centre of Advanced Research (CAR) in Yoga and Neurophysiology by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Arogyadhama – Yoga Therapy Health Center

S-VYASA operates Arogyadhama, a 250-bed residential yoga therapy center focused on:

  • Prevention and management of chronic diseases
  • Rehabilitation
  • Promotion of positive health

The center integrates yoga therapy, lifestyle modification, and holistic healing within a research-based framework.
