Nita Patel, M.Sc, C-IAYT

Mentor and Faculty

Nita Patel's philosophy as a yoga therapist is inspiring and reflective of her dedication to her practice. Nita’s yoga journey began in her youth while growing up in India. She developed a passion for yoga during her teenage years. In 2016, Nita decided to formalize her passion for yoga by becoming a certified yoga instructor through SVYASA Houston. This experience was a turning point for her and solidified her desire to teach yoga to others. She furthered her knowledge and skills by undergoing Yoga nidra certification training with Nurture Soul Therapeutics. Nita pursued a 200-hour integrative yoga teacher training program, earning certification in compliance with the Yoga Alliance. In 2021, Nita completed yoga therapy teacher training through SVYASA and became a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT).

Her purpose of serving and empowering participants by fostering curiosity of the mind, body, and soul aligns well with the Integrative approach of yoga therapy. By helping individuals find their inner strength and resilience through breath and self-discovery, her mission is to offer holistic attentive support by using mechanisms of yogic wisdom and modern understandings of health, wellness, and disease to cultivate a sense of self and improve the quality of life.

Nita’s unique combination of experience as a Research associate in a Texas based bio-pharmaceutical company and her expertise as a yoga therapist is an asset in her role in the department of Behavioral Science. By merging her scientific background with her skills, she provides research-based protocol interventions to patients undergoing treatment at MD Anderson.
